Comprehensive Eye Exam in BenidormMuch more than measuring your prescription
Book an Eye ExamA Complete Assessment of Your Eye Health
What is a comprehensive eye exam?
A comprehensive eye exam is an assessment of the health of your eyes and of how your vision works. It is not just about measuring your prescription for a new pair of glasses: it is a series of standardized tests to make sure your eyes are healthy and work together.
What Does Our Exam Include?
Case history
We ask about the reason for your visit, your habits (screens, work), your symptoms and your medical and family history, such as diabetes or glaucoma.
Autorefraction and keratometry
The autorefractor measures the shape of your cornea and gives an approximate prescription in seconds: it is the test where you look at a hot-air balloon or a little house.
Tonometry
We measure the pressure inside the eye, usually with an air-puff tonometer. It is a key test for catching glaucoma early.
Visual acuity
We measure how much you see with and without your glasses to find out how you are seeing.
Retinoscopy
An objective way to find your exact prescription by reading the light reflected by your retina. At routine check-ups it can replace testing with dilated pupils.
Refraction with a computerized phoropter
We fine-tune your prescription to the maximum, faster and more precisely, to correct myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism or presbyopia.
Binocular vision and eye movements
We check how your two eyes work as a team: alignment, tracking movements, focusing flexibility and depth perception.
Biomicroscopy
With the slit lamp we examine the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, iris and crystalline lens, and take images to spot any change at future visits.
Fundus exam
With retinal photography or OCT we check the health of your retina and follow up any sign of disease, referring you to the right professional if needed.
